Pet Food vs Fast Food

A tin of sardine flavored pet food doesn't sound appealing to us, human. But it turns out that pet food isn't only good for your pet's health but also to yours as well, research suggested.

In a test conducted to measure fat, salt and sugar level in 30 human meals versus 15 brands of pet food, pet food scored better in term of healthiness compared to fast food.

Nutrition experts discovered that Gourmet Gold cat food has just 2.9g of fat per 100g ? a mouth-watering EIGHT TIMES less than the percentage found in pieces of KFC. The level of fat was also far lower than a McDonald’s Big Mac and a Pizza Hut meal. (ref)

If pets have the same lifespan as human, would they live longer and healthier than us? But life as pet got to be boring, imagine eating the same food for the rest of your life. Perhaps that's the reason pets die at 10 - 15 years, out of boredom.

I read this excerpt on the BBC source:
'Unbelievably, ADDING fries cut the fat and salt levels, with them falling to 12g and 0.7g per 100g.'

So the value must be greater if they took out the fries from the computation.

I always think McD is unhealthier than KFC Quite astonished to read that the research stated otherwise.

That's because you watched supersize me. There are nastier things than the golden arch big mac.

Although nobody in their right mind would rather have chicken and vegetable pet food, this research focused on contrasting the fat and sodium contamination in fast food.

Sometimes I wonder what those companies put in the pet food. How come my pets are always sniffing vigorously and become excited if I bring a pack of whiskas yet they stay uninterested if I bring cheap tinned sardine.

You know what's funny? I bought some treats for my parakeets, but my boyfriend and I enjoy them more than they do. They taste like regular food from the grocery store, I'd say even better :) even though on the package it is said: not intended for human consumption, but the lady at the petstore said she eats them all the time :)

In my case my pets still enjoy the food more than I do :). Anyway perhaps your pets prefer fast food over pet food, try serving fast food instead of pet food to your pets.
